During her formative years in a small town as the only person of color, Sylrica Jack-Kydd felt an overwhelming sense of isolation. Today, Jack-Kydd creates work to increase the visibility of Black artists like herself. She is interested in works that not only celebrate the black aesthetic but also normalize it. In the same way that blue eyes are often compared to the sea and the sky, black skin is deep and varied, like the universe.
