Sharon Reitz is exploring the relationship between the earth and the natural patterns it generates. Her paintings are created with pigments that are thinned with solvents to affect viscosity, or wax mediums to add structure. She then allows the paint to find its own path on the canvas. In recent works Reitz has eliminated stretcher bars and she’s cut off the edges so that her canvases interact more with the surrounding space. Reitz integrates nature into the work.
