Abby Christian identifies the characteristics of her paintings as Surrealist. They function as a form of therapy to exorcise guilt, sadness, regret and shame. She doesn’t necessarily care that the viewer enjoys her paintings. What is important is what painting does for her; how the nostalgia and self-awareness and the dreams and memories that occupy her thoughts, disappear.
