Drawing is one of the foundations of contemporary art-making whether it is grounded in perceptual or conceptual pursuits. All areas of study are available within the department from anatomical figure drawing (subjects range from: skeletons, animals, live models, floral and fauna) to more concept-based classes that explore the subconscious imagination and other facets of human expression.
Charcoal, pencil, pen and ink, watercolor, washes, and collage are some of the various techniques and media that are covered in these classes. The BFA Fine Arts drawing classes are located at both our 16th Street and West 21st Street buildings –both facilities are equipped with drawing easels, wash stations, and artwork storage areas including flat files and drawing board and portfolio racks.
